MHA Board meeting of November 26, 2021. Submitted by Robert Davis, Secretary.
Attending: Jay Weintraub, Marc Alch, Joel Goldwein, Mel Taylor, David Gross, Bob Davis.
Jay Weintraub opened the meeting by reviewing results of the recent Thanksgiving Food Drive. Jay said we collected just under $2,000.00 in cash. The MHA rounded that up to $2,000.00.
The food drive collected over 100 cases of food. Jay especially thanked the members of MHA who helped man the tables in front of Casel’s Market; Ileen Inselman, Calvin Tesler, David and Lois Grossman.
The next item up for review was “non-renewers”. These are people who initially joined MHA, but who haven’t paid a renewal of their dues. It was proposed that we contact these people to find out specific reason they weren’t renewing and see if there was anything we could do, as a group, to renew their interest in MHA.
Joel, Mel, and Marc will work on developing a questionnaire. It will be sent to all members. Even those who didn’t renew. MHA wants a list of their concerns to see what can be done to “re-ignite” their interest in MHA.
In response to favorable reviews of Commissioner Amodeo’s and Chief Hankinson of recent past, it was suggested that we invite other members of our government. Appear before our MHA membership via zoom meeting. Answer questions from our membership.
Jay will contact Scott Abbott and Maury Blumberg to see if they have an interest in addressing our group.
Considering the success of the food drive, we should consider highlighting our partnership with Jewish Family Services who coordinated the distribution of the collected food.
We discussed approaching the community businesses for sponsorships. This matter has been postponed until after the new year.
There was board discussion of our involvement and happiness in seeing road diet come to fruition and it’s success.
Mel discussed his efforts working along with Joel Goodwein, our new Treasurer, in streamlining our processes. They’ll be working on coordinating Stripe (our payment system for dues and donations), Mail Chimp for e-mailings, and Membership Works.
